Inspiration #33 - Found

Thanks to Joanna and Stephanie for joining in round #33, Found.  We all submitted photography this time!  It's nice when that happens sometimes as we can see each other's own unique eye along with our own interpretation of the theme.  Without further ado, Found.

December 20th is the due date for round #34 when the theme will be "Family".  I'm hoping to see more of the ACoLab family for this last prompt of 2011!  I have plans to mix things up a bit in 2012, stay tuned and hope to see you back here for round #34!

Inspiration #28 - Seeing Red

When I thought of "Seeing Red" I admit to thinking about the theme of anger and as usual am impressed by all our different perspectives {most of which didn't deal with anger at all by the way}.   Should you like to know more about a particular artist or their submission just click on that artist's name or visit the Artists page.  Thanks for visiting the ACoLab!

A Short Play by Tia & Matt
THE BOY CARUSCO sits on the floor and paints a huge piece of paper with his fingers and hands. HIS MOTHER enters.

MOTHER
(Wearing an apron.) Bambino! Che bella! What is it you make? (He holds up his hands.) Ah! Look at you, red-handed! (She laughs and moves to fetch a towel. Carusco is left examining his hands, confused.)

*   *   *

CARUSCO, a man of twenty, sits on the floor and paints a huge piece of paper with his fingers and hands. HIS LOVER enters.

LOVER
(Wearing an apron. Only.) Is this how you always work, amore?

CARUSCO
(Holding up his hands) What do you see?

LOVER
I see you.

CARUSCO
(Pulling her down to him. She giggles; he leaves red handprints on the apron, on her torso) This. Here. Here. There. (Indicates the handprints, gently.) What?

LOVER
Me.

CARUSCO
Color.

LOVER
Red.

CARUSCO
Which is-?

LOVER
Which is…you. Me. Fire. (She is close to him, teasing.) Last night. This morning. This afternoon again. Redredred. (She kisses his nose. He begins to cover her in paint.)

*   *   *

CARUSCO, a man of fifty, sits on the floor and paints a huge piece of paper with his fingers and hands. He is clearly painting the body of a woman, made of red handprints.

*   *   *

CARUSCO, a man of eighty, sits in a chair by a window. He holds a swath of red fabric, passing it from hand to hand, running it through his fingers.

CARUSCO
I… I could never see… but I could feel… I still feel. Red. I feel it like no other. I know it in my fingers. (He runs the fabric through the fingers of his left hand and lets it fall to the ground. HIS MOTHER enters. HIS LOVER enters. He does not see them. They pick up the fabric together and drape it around his shoulders. They exit. Carusco pulls the fabric tighter around him, until there is no Carusco. There is only red.)

Inspiration #16 - At the End of the Rainbow

Welcome to round 16 of the ACoLab!  The inspiration for this round, in honor of Saint Patrick's Day, was "At the End of the Rainbow".  I found this one more challenging than some. (Do I say that every time?)  The theme seemed like it would result in something predictable but as always, every artist had a unique take.  I love this round-it's full of humor, beauty, cuteness, and personal memories.  Thanks to everyone who made this round so wonderful and a special welcome to our newest participant, Ewa!

As always, if you would like to learn more, see more, link to more you can visit that artists Artist Page.  You can link to those via the left sidebar, the Artist link above or simply by clicking on the name with each submission.  If you would like to participate, please do!  You can learn more here and here.  Without further ado, enjoy At the End of the Rainbow.

Thanks again everyone!  The round 17 deadline is on the 5th of April when the theme will be "Lies"...it is so close to April Fool's Day after all.   If you can't wait until then please feel free to create something based on one of the Extra Inspirations.  Happy creating!

Extra Inspired - Stephanie/Uelsmann

The following is a piece Stephanie created.  She was inspired by one of the three artists listed on each month's "Extra Inspired" list.  Want to know more about this creation?  Hop over to Stephanie's blog.  Thanks for stopping by!

Inspiration 12 - Resolution

Here we have the first submissions for the new year!  Thanks to all who participated.  For those of you who would like to join in the fun, please do.  Deadlines are always on the 5th and 20th of each month.  Click here for future inspiration themes and here for extra inspiration.   The next theme is "Page 25 of a magazine you are reading" due on February 5th.  You can submit anything your imagination wants to create.  Have fun!  You can also choose from any of the "extra inspirations" to submit at any point during the month.  As always, should you care to learn more about a particular artist or one of the works below you can either click on the link of that artist's name (located on the left side bar) or click on the name in each submission.

I chose the word "Resolution" because it was January and the new year, time for resolutions.  But I wondered if anyone would take the word and use it in the sense of photography and resolution for the image.  Nope.  I chose to go the first route as well.  Here you have this rounds submissions, enjoy!

Round 11 Submissions

I don't know if it was the holiday season, my error in deadline information, or if this was just a big stumper but we lost a couple of regulars this round.  However, it was a great turn-out for diversity!   I think this might be the most personal I have seen the results.  In each case, I had to read the reasoning behind each creation to understand how it was inspired by the video and what made each person create what they did; I love that.  I also love the inspiration for this round.  Thanks again to Ego for supplying the first video inspirationVisit Ego's page to see other submissions and also find links to her other projects, they don't disappoint.  Now, on to round 11!  As usual you can find out more about a particular entry or artist by visiting their artist page.  Thanks for visiting the ACoLab.  If you would like to participate please do.  The next round of inspirations and deadlines will be up by the first of the year.  Hope to see you then!

Theme 9 Submissions

Hi everyone!
This round's theme is "Out of My Element".  This theme really showed how we all think completely different things based of the same inspiration.  I can honestly say that none of these ideas came to mind when I thought of the inspiration and when I was thinking of what to make and yet they all make sense.  So here you have the entries for theme number nine in order of submission, enjoy!

For further information about each entry or to find out more about an artist just click on their name to see their artist page.  You can also click on an artist's name located on the left sidebar.  You will be able to see all of their previous submissions there as well.

Happy Creating,
Anika

Theme number 7 submissions

Look at this!  Submissions for round seven!!
Great variety this round.  This is a very interesting collection - The interpretations for the theme of "Full Circle" include paintings, photos, and cooking.  The ideas behind the "Full Circle" were interpreted so differently too...just goes to show how we all can see the same inspiration in such different ways.  Thanks to all the participants as you make this site a great spot to be inspired to create even more!  And a very special welcome to our newest artist, Danijela!  To learn more about a particular piece or artist click on that artist's page (links on the left sidebar).  To see any of the images larger just click on the image.  Thanks for visiting the Lab and without further ado, enjoy.

Yesterday is prehistory
which follows history
and comes before a tomorrow's mystery
sounds very blistery
and I suppose it is, as each one is a story in itself!
A cake has some similarity
it doesn't always give satiety
you can be the first, last, or somewhere in the middle
and even when you are the icing on the top, being a slice can be a fiddle
It can be a comfort and delight
a support to tell you everything will be alright
indeed a powerful might
and like generations before, gone in a flash!
