The ACoLab is proud to have John aboard. John is a skilled musician specializing in ambient compositions. He has been a part of numerous bands including The French Broads, The Elements, and The Westside Daredevils, and also has released his own albums Ohm (one of my favorite albums to listen to) and Rainbrella which I also highly recommend. Actually, you can download the whole album for free! John is also a founding member of the Knoxville Ambient group. You can download a sampler album which also features a track by fellow ACoLab members Anika and Doug. Besides creating music, John also has a great eye for photography and video. Lately he has been creating music to go along with abstracted video.
Deborah Julian is a talented photographer who has a unique eye for graphic details. I find the her use of contrast and lighting particularly interesting. In the wide world of photographers she sets herself apart with her own unique style.
You can view or buy her cards and prints by clicking here.

Theme Five Inspiration: The phrase "Bits of the Past, Pieces of the Future"
"Brighton Beach Subway" and "Subway Shadows"
Photographs
I took these photos a few weeks ago in Brighton Beach Brooklyn, an interesting old Russian neighborhood near Coney Island. At first look this neighborhood seems a throwback to the past with its old shops and markets. It is one of the few New York City neighborhoods that still has an elevated subway train which creates beautiful shadows on the street below. But many young people also live in the area, such as the woman on the subway platform.
I always have an eye for geometric patterns when I am shooting and I love to contrast nature with man made elements. Norwegian Trees and Geometric Landscape were taken in Norway. Twilight was shot in Reykjavik Iceland.
Wow! Theme number three has brought forth the best variety yet! I am so excited to share the new submissions. There are also a few new artists to introduce. I am thinking that Tuesday I should have the post up and ready to view. I will send out an email to all participants. Speaking of which, I am going to start a mailing list for these kind of notifications. Should you prefer not to get emails just let me know and I will remove your email from the list. Also, if you would like to be added to the mailing list just contact me via the "Submit Here" link to the left of the page.
Happy Sunday everyone!
This inspiration will not only serve as the inspiration but will also be the title of your work. You will fill in the blank to suit your needs. Remember, anything goes!
Theme Two: Your Bedside Table
This one was a bit more broad. It was my hope that it would be so broad that the different interpretations would be even more varied than the first round of work. It was challenging though... Should you like to read about an individual piece, get the back story, or find out more about a particular artist visit their artist page. Thanks to everyone who participated! Without further ado, here are the submissions.
